“Asalamualaikum,” sapa Itaf dari ambang pintu ruang guru.
“Waalaikumsalam,” jawab Bu Wiwik menyambut uluran tangan Itaf. “Alhamdulillah, Itaf berangkatnya pagi sekali. Oh, Bu Wiwik tahu, Itaf mau jadi kapten, ya?”
“Iya, soalnya gara-gara terlambat, kemarin aku nggak jadi kapten,” kata Itaf dengan muka masam.

Sehari sebelumnya.
Itaf mengetuk pintu kelas ketika teman-teman dan para guru tengah melantunkan doa pagi. Ia datang dengan wajah sendu, hampir menangis. Itaf lantas duduk di karpet sebagaimana biasanya. Ia menundukkan wajahnya.
Ustazah Layla memimpin tahfiz pagi. Anak-anak melafalkan beberapa surah pendek. Ada yang dilafalkan bersama-sama, ada pula yang sambung ayat. Bu Wiwik menghampiri Itaf. Menanyakan keadaannya. Itaf masih enggan berkisah.
“Ya sudah, nanti kalau Itaf sudah nggak sedih, Itaf cerita, ya,” bisik Bu Wiwik.
Itaf masih saja murung hingga tahfiz berakhir. Tak biasanya anak ini bersikap seperti itu. Hari-hari sebelumnya, meski terlambat, Itaf tidak sesedih itu. Ada apakah gerangan? Bu Wiwik penasaran.
Anak-anak melanjutkan kegiatan pagi itu dengan pelajaran BAQ. Semua siswa berkemas lalu bergegas menuju ruang mengaji sesuai kelompok masing-masing.
Sejam berlalu, para siswa kembali ke kelas. Pelajaran BAQ telah usai. Itaf sudah ceria lagi. Bu Wiwik lega. Sebelum pelajaran berikutnya dimulai, Bu Wiwik meminta waktu untuk berbicara. Anak-anak disilakan duduk di karpet.
“Anak-Anak, akhir-akhir ini Bu Wiwik mengamati ada beberapa anak yang terlambat,” Bu Wiwik mengawali pembicaraan.
“Sultan terlambat soalnya antar jemputnya lama, Bu Wiwik,” seloroh Sultan sambil mengangkat tangan.
“Kalau aku tadi terlambat gara-gara nungguin Mama,” jelas Rendra.
“Maaf, Bu Wiwik, aku tadi bangun kesiangan, jadi terlambat, deh,” jawab Itaf dengan gaya khasnya.
“Oh, begitu, ya? Semoga besok Allah memudahkan kalian agar bisa berangkat sekolah tepat waktu. Amin.”
Itulah yang Bu Wiwik biasakan di kelas. Setiap ada persoalan, saat itu juga direfleksikan dan diselesaikan. Alhamdulillah, anak-anak menyadari kesalahannya. Harapan dikembalikan lagi kepada Sang Maha Pengatur.
Bel istirahat pertama berbunyi. Anak-anak melakukan aktivitas yang mereka sukai. Bu Wiwik bersyukur sekaligus penasaran atas perubahan mood Itaf. Ia bergegas menuju ruang guru menemui Ustazah Layla. Itaf mengaji bersama beliau tadi.
“Iya, Bu Wiwik. Dari awal hingga selesai mengaji, Itaf masih cemberut. Setelah teman-temannya keluar ruangan, saya tahan Itaf dulu. Saya bilang begini, ‘Itaf, kalau cemberut begitu terus nanti jadi kaya Pak Ogah, lo. Itaf tahu, kan, siapa Pak Ogah? Nanti bisa cepat tua kalau suka cemberut.’ Itaf lantas menjelaskan alasan sedihnya karena ia gagal menjadi kapten. Keterlambatannya akibat ia bangun kesiangan,” jelas Ustazah Layla.
“Alhamdulillah. Akhirnya terjawab sudah rasa penasaran saya, Ust,” jawab Bu Wiwik.

Pagi ini Itaf berhasil datang ke sekolah lebih awal. Ia dapat menjadi kapten kelas. Bahkan, Itaf juga berinisiatif mengganti piket yang tidak terlaksana kemarin. Seharusnya kemarin Itaf piket menyiram tanaman. Oleh karena ia terlambat, Itaf belum bisa melaksanakan tanggung jawabnya. Alhamdulillah, Itaf belajar dari pengalamannya kemarin dan ia menjadi anak yang beruntung. Sebagaimana hadis Rasulullah: “Barang siapa hari ini lebih baik dari hari kemarin, dialah tergolong orang yang beruntung,” (H.R. Al Hakim).
